Annual National Conference:

Each spring, AMSA's annual convention brings together nearly 1,500 physicians-in-training and leaders in medical education, premedical education, and health policy to share ideas and plan solutions for the future.  This is an opportunity to meet with like-minded premedical students, medical students and AMSA alumni to find out why many physicians-in-training identify the AMSA Convention as a pivotal event in their future career as a physician leader.  The AMSA Convention provides many programming sessions specifically for premedical students including talks from admissions deans, an informational session about current health care situations, a medical school fair, and much more.

Regional Conferences:

Every fall, each AMSA region holds a conference for premedical students to convene and listen to speakers, work on projects, participate in the informative programming sessions, and have a great time.  These conferences have become an AMSA tradition and an inspiration for various events across the country.  They have also become a “must attend” for those students interested in learning more about AMSA, health care, and the medical school process.

Chapter Officers’ Conference:

The Chapter Officers’ Conference (COC) is one of AMSA's most exciting traditions.  It is a time that will allow you to experience and learn about all the excitement AMSA has to offer.  Only a specific number of slots are available to premedical students at this conference, so invitation and acceptance is competitive.  During the conference, chapter officers will learn all about the history, priorities, and opportunities dealing with National AMSA.  Attendees will also learn important techniques to developing local projects, creating fundraiser activities, and developing a recruitment strategy.  Overall, chapter officers will be able to hang out with the coolest of cool AMSA chapter leaders from around the country.

Premedical Institutes:

AMSA holds at least two leadership institutes every year for premedical students including topics on global health and premedical leadership.  These institutes teach the different ways you can affect change in being a future physician.  They include inspirational stories from physician leaders, healthcare reform advocates, and fellow students who take a stand in the belief that health care is a human right.  These institutes also look to provide examples of physician leadership as well as providing information on the importance of government and health policy.  Participants are encouraged to ask questions, engage in discussion, and share stories of personal experiences.  These institutes prove year after year to be fun-filled weekends where all participants come out better informed leaders!

Premedical Leadership Institute: October 31- November 3

Premedical Global Health Institute: November 7-10

Various Premed Professional Development Conferences:

Throughout the country, various colleges and universities hold professional development conferences specific to premedical students.  These conferences are open to the entire country and cover a wide variety of premedical topics.  These annual conferences aim at educating college students about the medical school admission process. They underscore direct contact with medical school faculty and staff, including deans of admission and admission officers. They also provide premedical workshops that educate on a myriad of issues, ranging from information about medical school curriculum to public policy and public health education.
